CDN Eligibility Criteria

  1. The applicant must hold a full and unrestricted license as a registered nurse in the United States, or its territories.
  2. The applicant must have completed a minimum of 2000 hours experience in nephrology nursing as a registered nurse during the last two years.
  3. The applicant must have completed fifteen contact hours of approved continuing education credit in nephrology nursing within two years prior to submitting the CDN examination application.



CDN International Eligibility Criteria

  1. The applicant must hold a current, full and unrestricted license as a first-level general nurse in the country in which one's general nursing education was completed, and meet the eligibility criteria for licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in the United States in accordance with requirements of the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CFGNS).
  2. The applicant must have completed a minimum of 2000 hours experience (one year full-time employment) in nephrology nursing in the last two years.
  3. The applicant must provide documentation of fifteen hours of education in nephrology nursing within two years prior to submission of application.

Please be aware that although programs may meet requirements set forth by other state boards of nursing, they may not meet the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission Criteria.
