Spring Meeting: Board of Commissioners Announce Exciting Steps

The NNCC Board of Commissioners met in Asheville, NC, from April 29 - 30, 2023, during which time NNCC bid a very fond and official farewell to outgoing President, Sandra M. Bodin, presenting Sandy with a token of NNCC’s tremendous gratitude and great appreciation for her tireless dedication and steadfast leadership. Thank you Sandy!

NNCC’s BOC welcomed in Lori Neal as current NNCC President. Additionally, NNCC BOC welcomed Jennifer Murray to the commission. It was a very productive Spring BOC meeting, with Commissioners announcing new and exciting initiatives. See new announcements below!


Announcing NNCCs Water for Dialysis Program - What's in your Water?

NNCC’s Water for Dialysis Program, What’s in your Water? is a learning activity provided by NNCC is to help participants obtain knowledge and competency concerning water treatment for dialysis. Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the components of the dialysis water system including their purposes, monitoring requirements, and patient safety considerations.
  • Explain how water-related clinical problems occur, are identified, and can be prevented.
  • Discuss the elements of the CMS water survey that ensure compliance with safety.

Great News: Upon completion, a certificate will be provided awarding a four-contact hour credit to be used towards NNCC certification or recertification continuing education requirements.

 
 
 
 

Now Available! Dialysis Technician Preceptor Credits

The NNCC Board of Commissioners and the Clinical/Technical Examination Board has approved an 8-contact hour credit towards NNCC certification or recertification for dialysis technicians who are precepting dialysis technicians' for a minimum of 160 hours during their three-year certification period, or within the three years prior to applying to take the CCHT-A certification examination.

 
 
Announcing Fee Reduction! CCHT-A Examination Application Fee Reduced
The NNCC Board of Commissioners and the Clinical/Technical Examination Board have unanimously agreed to decrease the CCHT-A Examination application fee from $250 to $225.00 effective June 1. For experienced, nationally certified dialysis technicians who have worked a minimum of five years and 5,000 hours working at an advanced level of practice as a dialysis technician, this is one more reason to take the next step to earn the credential that shows your knowledge and experience.

Announcing FREE Online CNN-NP Practice Exam

NNCC Board of Commissioners and the Advanced Practice Examination Board have examined some of the roadblocks for nephrology nurse practitioners taking the CNN-NP certification examination. A lack of resources and preparation materials seem to be a large factor.

NNCC will now offer a free online CNN-NP practice examination to nephrology nurse practitioners who have been approved to take the CNN-NP examination. Upon approved for testing, nephrology nurse practitioners will receive a link to take the online practice exam. This, in addition to the free CNN-NP Certification Preparation Guide, will have you well on your way to preparing for the exam!

 
 
 
 

Important Survey: Calling All Registered Nurses Working In Nephrology!

The NNCC invites all Registered Nurses working in Nephrology to participate in an important survey for your practice. This important survey will be used to be sure the contents of the CNN and CDN certification examination are current. All survey responses are anonymous. The survey will take about 45 minutes to complete.
